MIT-licensed open source software. Here's what that means for you.

Last updated: March 2026

VaultForge is MIT-licensed, free, open source software. It can read, write, move, and delete files in your vault as instructed by your AI assistant. Destructive operations have dry-run protection by default. You are responsible for your own backups. We recommend using git.

§1
License

VaultForge is distributed under the MIT License. You are free to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the software, subject to the conditions of the license.

The full license text is available in the LICENSE file on GitHub.

§2
No Warranty

The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement.

In no event shall the authors or copyright holders be liable for any claim, damages, or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort, or otherwise, arising from, out of, or in connection with the software or the use or other dealings in the software.

§3
File Operations

VaultForge can create, read, modify, move, rename, and delete files within your vault. This is the core purpose of the tool — it acts on your files as instructed by your AI assistant.

Dry-Run Mode

Destructive operations (move, rename, delete) run in dry-run mode by default. This means VaultForge will show you what would happen before making changes. You must explicitly confirm or disable dry-run to execute destructive operations.

§4
Your Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining backups of your data and for reviewing operations requested by your AI assistant before confirming them. VaultForge is a tool that executes instructions — the responsibility for those instructions lies with you.

Recommendation

We strongly recommend using git for version control of your vault. Git provides a complete history of changes, making it easy to review and revert any operation.

§5
Limitation of Liability

Solutions Forge LTDA is not responsible for any data loss, corruption, or unintended modifications resulting from the use of VaultForge. Dry-run mode is a best-effort safeguard, not a guarantee against data loss.
